Caravaggio Prize 2026
On May 5th, 2026, I received the International Prize Caravaggio – Great Master of Art in Madrid, at the Palacio Santoña. The prize was awarded by the Fondazione Effetto Arte, by Dott. Francesco and Salvatore Russo.
This award is dedicated to artists who recognize in light — as well as in shadow — the deepest matrix of their expressive research. I received it with my artwork "Bella", inspired by my artistic journey of last year : The Last of Us – Darkness and Light.
Bella
The artwork presented is the portrait of the artist Bella Ramsey, the second principal protagonist of my work in 2025, on the theme of Darkness and Light, with inspiration from the show "The Last of Us". Bella plays the character of Ellie Williams.
I wanted a portrait with enough weight to support the intensity of Pedro's portrait, while finding a touch of hope and determination.
Following the first portrait, Ellie represents hope and the salvation of the world. I worked with a golden background to reinforce this message and to convey the notion of an icon.
Regarding my color palette, I stayed in dark shades to maintain this impression of survival, as in Pedro's portrait.
